RPM AC PAPER MILL SERVICE MOTORS

The RPM AC paper mill duty enclosure is a definite purpose motor designed for paper mill and other harsh industrial applications. This enclosure has been used successfully for years on DC motors in paper mill installations., Combined with the inherent ruggedness of an AC motor, the RPM AC paper mill duty design offers an alternative choice to totally enclosed motors and simplifies installation when replacing DC.
Paper mill duty ratings are available in either separately-ventilated enclosures with the cooling air supplied by the customer, or with integral motor mounted blower driven by an SXT three-phase motor.
The RPM AC paper mill duty motors on pages B-5 and B-6 have been priced to include the special features commonly required for these applications. Mod 193 provides:
Interior and exterior surfaces of frame and rotating assembly are coated with epoxy enamel.
Multiple dips and bakes of premium varnish on stator windings.
Shaft (in-board of bearing caps) painted with epoxy enamel.
Stainless steel or neoprene slinger mounted on external shaft extensions.
Assembled motor with mounted accessories painted with epoxy enamel.
Conduit box - Neoprene gaskets on cover and box frame. Box construction is epoxy coated cast iron with pipe tap lead outlet. Mill type is standard on L400.
Bracket to frame rabbet fit sealed with special sealing compound.
All hardware corrosion resistant.
Stainless steel nameplate.
All external bolts sealed.
Unused lifting eyebolt holes sealed.
Mod 181 provides splashproof covers on all air exhaust openings to meet NEMA MG 1.25.2 for splashproof enclosures. The motor is protected against liquid drops or solid particles from entering the motor at any angle not greater than 100 degrees downward from the vertical.

20:1 constant torque below base speed, open loop Class F rise/1.0 service factor on inverter power.
150% overload for I minute.
Three - normally closed thermostats.
PLS lubrication with bearing inner caps is standard.
